Apple has added the 2019 21.5-inch Retina 4K iMac to its vintage products list, marking another step in the transition from Intel-based Macs to Apple silicon.
The 2019 21.5-inch iMac was one of Apple's final Intel-powered all-in-one desktop Macs. It featured a 21.5-inch Retina 4K display and was offered with several Intel processor, memory, and storage configurations.
Apple typically classifies products as vintage after they have not been distributed for sale for more than five years. Vintage status does not mean the device immediately stops working. However, hardware service may become more limited depending on the availability of replacement parts.
The 27-inch Intel iMac from the same era had already entered Apple's vintage list, making the addition of the 21.5-inch model another step in the gradual retirement of Apple's Intel Mac lineup.
Apple introduced the redesigned 24-inch iMac with the M1 chip in 2021, replacing the Intel-based 21.5-inch model. Since then, Apple has continued expanding its Apple silicon Mac lineup.
For users who still own the 2019 iMac, the vintage designation does not affect everyday use. However, owners may want to keep hardware condition and future repair availability in mind when deciding how long to continue using the device.

The 2019 21.5-inch iMac represents one of the last generations of Apple's classic Intel iMac design. Its move to vintage status reflects Apple's ongoing shift to Apple silicon and the gradual transition of older Intel Macs out of Apple's current hardware ecosystem.
