Apple could bring one of the headline features of its iPhone X to its iPad Pro next year, according to a prominent technology analyst.

iPhone X doesn’t launch until next month, but we’re already starting to hear rumours about where the flagship smartphone’s new facial recognition system will end-up next.

According to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the Face ID system is being lined-up for the next refresh of the iPad Pro range.

Apple will incorporate its next-generation depth-sensing cameras to the productivity-focused tablets next year, the KGI Securities analyst has forecast.

Kuo is typically very reliable when it comes to information on unannounced Apple products, so it’s highly-likely Apple is actively looking into the possibility of Face ID on its iPad line-up.

Aside from the face-tracking capabilities of the TrueDepth camera system that powers Face ID, the decision to bring facial recognition to the iPad could be indicative of an iPhone X-style redesign for the tablet range.

Apple has already started to whittle away the bezels on the iPad Pro with the launch of the 10.5-inch model earlier this year.

The new smartphone unlocks and authenticates payments via Face ID – a new depth-sensing face scanning technology.

iPhone X is available in two colours: Space Grey and Silver.

Apple will charge £999 for the entry-level iPhone X model, which ships with 64GB of storage built-in. The top-of-the-line model packs 256GB of storage and costs £1,149.

The US technology offers a number of payment plans for users, including its iPhone Upgrade Programme, which lets users pay-off their device in monthly instalments and upgrade to a new iPhone each year.

Apple bundles AppleCare+ with the iPhone Upgrade Programme plans.

Pre-orders for the new iPhone will be available online on Friday October 27th 2017.

If Apple follows its usual timeline (and there’s no reason to believe it won’t this time around) then pre-orders will be available from 8:01am in the UK and Ireland.

Orders can be reserved for pick-up in brick-and-mortar Apple Stores, or posted to home addresses, on Friday November 3rd.
