The Electra Team has spent the past few weeks hyping up its Electra12 jailbreak for iOS 12.0-12.1.2, and as it would seem, the wait is finally over as of Monday night.
Say hello to Chimera, an entirely new jailbreak tool developed and released by the CoolStar-led Electra Team with native support for all iOS 12.0-12.1.2 devices, including the pesky A12(X) variety.

Chimera’s polished website goes great lengths to describe the newfangled jailbreak tool as a clean and hassle-free way of achieving a jailbreak on your iOS 12.0-12.1.2 device. Here are some excerpts:
"Chimera is the first true iOS 12 jailbreak to not only feature a CoreTrust bypass so that binaries don’t need to be resigned, but to also support A12 devices, including iPhone Xs, iPhone Xr, and the newest iPads. Chimera doesn’t tamper with user files, making it safer than alternatives.
We’ve rewritten Chimera from the ground up to ensure that there’s no battery drain, freezing, or crashing. There’s simply nothing else like it, and we can’t wait for you to see for yourself."
Perhaps unsurprisingly, the Electra
"Chimera comes with a modern package manager, Sileo, featuring a UI made to fit iOS, and packed full of features and speed enhancements to make installing packages a breeze. Rather than sticking to tools built decades ago, it ships with modern system tools designed to take advantage wherever possible."
It’s worth noting that the unc0ver jailbreak by Pwn20wnd already supports iOS 12.0-.12.1.2, but that A12(X) devices are only partially supported due to a Cydia Substrate bottleneck. Pwn20wnd is currently working on implementing Substitute for A12(X) devices, which would align it with Chimera, but no ETA has been provided concerning its release.
Much like the iOS 11-centric Electra jailbreak, Chimera supports both iOS and tvOS devices and is a semi-tethered jailbreak that must be installed via Cydia Impactor and deployed via an app on the device. Download links for both tools are available on the official Chimera website.
