Apple unveiled iOS 12, the next major update for its mobile operating system for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch at the WWDC 2018 Keynote in June.
iOS 12 is one of the most anticipated iOS updates as it includes performance and quality improvements, along with new features like Memoji, Screen Time, Siri Shortcuts, and more.
Apple has already released a record 12 beta versions of iOS 12 to developers. However, one of the most frequently asked questions is when will Apple release iOS 12 to the public.
iOS 12 Release Date
Based on the historic information, Apple releases a major iOS update on the following Tuesday after the iPhone launch event.
iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus launch event on September 7, iOS 10 release date – Tuesday, September 13th, 2016.
iPhone X launch event on September 12, iOS 11 release date – Tuesday, September 19th, 2017.
Apple has sent out invites for iPhone XS launch event on September 12. So if Apple follows the same release schedule like the last two years, we predict iOS 12 release date will be the following Tuesday i.e. on September 18, 3 days before iPhone XS goes on sale. Prior to 2017, Apple used to release the major update for iOS on a Wednesday. So Apple could also release it on Wednesday, September 19. Please note that this is a speculation based on historic information.
