The Cupertino giant Apple is releasing a lot of its products this year, and it is bound to be a momentous frenzy for tech aficionados. Almost each device is being upgraded, although there is little to no information regarding Apple's desktop, the iMac.
The last iMac model came in October 2015, and no word has been heard if it will still be coming back. Many are hoping that Apple will shed light on it this year, especially that the company is bombarding consumers with a lot of products in time for various events.
If anything, fans are just holding on to CEO Tim Cook's statement last year. He said, "Some folks in the media have raised the question about whether we're committed to desktops. If there's any doubt about that with our teams, let me be very clear: we have great desktops in our roadmap. Nobody should worry about that."
That being said, everyone is hopeful that the roadmap for 2017 has a new iMac in store for consumers. As such, speculations arise, although most are contradicting as there is no solid information yet.
There may be chances that Apple could be thinking of putting AMD Ryzen chips in the upcoming version of the iMac, as this is a cheaper option which still brings power and efficiency. The downside, however, is how it affects gaming as was seen in benchmarks comparing Intel and AMD.
On the other hand, seems to doubt this move, as it would be a drastic move away from the current path it is on. If so, then the Apple iMac might be more on editing and publishing rather than gaming. In relation to gaming, it also appears as if VR capability won't be available upon release, though this would be something that's interesting to see.
No official release date has been announced yet, and so fans will first have to wait for definitive signs that it is in development.
