Did you just get your iPhone 7? Well, be prepared to get excited for the iPhone 8.
Because that is what Apple fans are talking about these days. And why wouldn't we be discussing the new features an iPhone will sport almost a year before its release? But between an edgeless display and innovative wireless charging tech, it does sound kinda cool.
So what is this about the iPhone 8? Adie Pie has the background:
The iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus have just started to roll out...but the tech world is already buzzing about the next...iPhone...iPhone 8, the 10th anniversary smartphone from Apple is looking to change the face of the iPhone.
If early reports are to be believed, Apple...will offer the iPhone 8 in an edgeless design...the future iPhone offerings will also be larger than the current iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus.
How large, exactly? Joe Rossignol has the details:
Apple will release new 5-inch and 5.8-inch iPhones with curved, bezel-free designs next year...analysts...said the borderless design will allow for the new iPhones to be the same overall size as current 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch models...the analysts said only the 5.8-inch model will use OLED display technology, which can be sharper, brighter, and more energy efficient than LCD technology.
A good start, but what else do we know so far? Tasneem Akolawala fills in the blanks:
The OLED panels will allow the iPhone 8 screen to bend at the edges and introduce curved-edges on all sides. The OLED panels will be manufactured by Samsung and LG for now.Analysts also suggest that Apple's 3D Touch may see a change to a new "film-based solution" . Apart from that, the iPhone 8 is tipped to sport an all-glass back, a new A11 processor, and a new Touch ID system.
Got all that? There is one more rumor swirling around about the upcoming iPhone 8. Joe M. is in the know:
The latest rumor about the iPhone 8 has to do with wireless charging. Apple is apparently looking to make wireless charging truly wireless. The company is supposedly looking to implement.... module into the iPhone 8 that will connect to a transmitter...plugged into a wall outlet. This setup will then allow the iPhone 8 to charge as long as it's within 15-feet of the transmitter.
So, what do you think? Ready for an iPhone 8? Jules Wang has some words of wisdom to share:
Alright, getting our expectations...set in 2016 for a 2017 product. We’re sure nothing will change.
