Apple has begun promoting new iOS 11 features to iOS 10 users ahead of the update’s public release.
The Tips app is issuing notifications that tease things like iOS 11’s redesigned Control Center, giving users a chance to preview them before the mobile operating system’s release in coming weeks.
Announced at WWDC in June, iOS 11 is a major upgrade for iPhone and iPad users, with a whole host of new features and improvements. In addition to that redesigned Control Center, we can look forward to powerful new multitasking features, a Files app, a better Siri and more.
iOS 11 has been in testing over the past three months. Its public release alongside the new iPhone lineup is right around the corner. To ensure users are prepared for the upgrade, Apple has begun promoting those new features and improvements via its Tips app.
iOS 11 new features
Spotted by 9to5Mac, the notifications encourage users to learn about things like Do Not Disturb While Driving, the new Files app and more. The Tips app walks us through these features, explaining how they’re used and what we can do with them.
Apple doesn’t typically promote a new update in this way until it’s ready for public download, but the company clearly wants to get us excited for iOS 11 ahead of its release. Apple already released public betas, so it’s not like any of this is a closely guarded secret.
We don’t have a firm release date for iOS 11 just yet, but Apple will confirm that during its special event on September 12. It’s likely everyone will be able to get their hands on it around September 19 — a few days before the new iPhone lineup hits store shelves.
