Apple could launch its long-awaited OLED touchscreen MacBook Pro models on November 6, following a product announcement in late October, according to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman.
Speaking on his latest podcast, Gurman said Apple is expected to introduce the new laptops around October 27 or October 28. The redesigned MacBook Pro models could then arrive in stores in early November, marking another major hardware launch for Apple before the end of the year.
OLED MacBook Pro Could Launch on November 6
Apple retail stores reportedly have a major floor reset scheduled for the evening of November 5 and continuing into November 6.
According to Gurman, the timing could indicate preparations for the arrival of new Mac products. Apple often updates its retail displays ahead of significant product launches, although the store reset does not independently confirm the release date.
Before the expected retail launch, Apple is reportedly planning a creator-focused gathering in Los Angeles in late October to introduce its upcoming products.
A traditional livestreamed Apple Event has not been confirmed. Gurman suggested that Apple would still announce the products in some form and provide video presentations at the very least.
OLED MacBook Pro Could Bring Touchscreen Support
The upcoming 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models are expected to feature OLED displays and touchscreen capabilities, potentially marking the most significant redesign of Apple's professional laptops since 2021.
Rumored features include:
●OLED displays: Improved contrast and deeper blacks compared with the current display technology.
●Touchscreen support: Direct interaction with macOS through the display.
●Redesigned chassis: A potentially thinner and lighter design.
●Dynamic Island: Apple's familiar interface feature could appear on the MacBook Pro.
Unlike a typical processor refresh, the OLED models could introduce a new category of premium MacBook Pro hardware.
However, Apple has not officially confirmed the specifications, pricing, or release date.
Apple May Keep OLED Models Within the MacBook Pro Lineup
Gurman previously suggested that Apple might call its OLED touchscreen laptops the MacBook Ultra. He has since walked back that prediction, indicating that the new machines are more likely to remain part of the MacBook Pro family.
The OLED models could be sold alongside the existing MacBook Pro versions with mini-LED displays, giving customers a more premium option rather than immediately replacing the current lineup.
Notably, the new OLED models are not expected to introduce another chip generation. Reports indicate that Apple will use the existing M5 Pro and M5 Max chips, which already power current MacBook Pro models.
If accurate, the main selling points would be the redesigned hardware, OLED display, and touchscreen interface rather than a new processor.
