Samsung apparently plans to follow copy Apple’s 2018 iPhone lineup by releasing three different sized phones when it comes out with the Galaxy S10.
Industry analyst Ming-Chi Kuo sent out a new report on Samsung’s plans and revealed that the company’s new Android smartphones will also come with a feature Apple gave up on.
Kuo says in his note to investors that Samsung’s S10 model phones will come out in three versions: one with a 5.8-inch screen, another with a 6.1-inch screen, and an even bigger one with a 6.4-inch screen.
Apple is rumored to be doing something similar this fall. The 2018 iPhone lineup will supposedly boast three models with screen sizes that are 5.8-inches, 6.1-inches and 6.5-inches. The 6.1-inch model will be the cheapest version and come with an LCD display instead of OLED like the one on the iPhone X.
All three of the new iPhones are expected to have Face ID. They may also come in exciting new color options.
Samsung supposedly plans to add an ultra-sonic fingerprint reader to the display of its larger two phones. Embedded Touch ID was a feature Apple investigated for a few years but the company eventually went all-in on Touch ID.
Samsung will undoubtedly market its fingerprint-reading display as one of its defining features. The company usually launches its flagship phones in the spring. An event is slated for Samsung to reveal the Galaxy Note 9 on August 9. That should give the company about one month before Apple comes and steals the thunder with the iPhone X’s successors.
