In a week of the announcement of quarterly results from Apple, observers still do the splits about the sales performance of the iPhone X.

At the other end of the spectrum is analyst Ming-Chi Kuo who evaluated last week sales of iPhone X to 18 million copies. He also talked about China but as a declining market. In a country where big phones are popular, the somewhat weird screen of the iPhone X would have served a little: Demanding Chinese customers love big-screen phones. But the design with the notch and the fact that many apps are not yet compatible with this display make many users find that the screen of the iPhone X seems smaller than that of an iPhone Plus. The high price also squeezed demand among those who wanted to replace their phones.

Apple will release its results on February 1st. It would be very surprising if it derogates from its rule of giving only an overall volume. But given the turnover of the iPhone business it should be possible to determine the impact of high-end models in this set.
