Another public relations disaster from Huawei.
China's telecommunications company Huawei suffers from recent twists and turns continues in 2019 by making a fool of themselves to help their competitor. Huawei released a New Year’s greeting on Twitter on Dec 31, 2018 which was created via the rival Apple iPhone.
Soon after Huawei was caught tweeting from an iPhone, the tweet got deleted and tweeted again with the same message, removing the "iPhone" part of course. Quick enough, famous tech YouTuber Marques Brownlee (known as MKBHD) spotted this and made this issue even more viral than the original.
A news article in Yahoo said screenshots of the image above were sent to Sina Weibo, a Chinese microblogging website, which created some heated discussions among mainland internet users. Many users have described this incident as a public relations disaster of Huawei with comments such as:
"You are playing the mother's face! You must be severely punished!"
"Who requires Huawei employees to use Huawei mobile phones? Not to mention this is not the mobile phone department."
"Kawasaki is a job, and apples are a life."
"Which mobile phone is good, the employee's stomach is the clearest!"
There were similar cases in the past with non-Apple brands caught creating tweets from an iPhone. Take Samsung Nigeria and India for instance, they were both trolled for promoting Galaxy smartphones with tweets coming from iPhone last year. According to mobigyaan, Samsung Nigeria had tweeted about Galaxy Note9, whereas Samsung India had tweeted about Galaxy A9 (2018).
