Apple continues to move forward with its beta seeds for the operating system baked into some of its set-top boxes.

Today, Apple officially seeded the sixth developer beta of tvOS 11.2.5. As is the case with the minor uptick in version numbers, this is a minor update, and it is not likely that this beta will introduce any major new forward facing features for the end user.

Still, it is possible that Apple could welcome new features, and if that is indeed the case we will update this post accordingly.

To update the fourth- or fifth-generation Apple TV, you will need a registered profile with Apple, and then download the update via Xcode.

Apple has also seeded the corresponding public beta of tvOS 11.2.5 to public beta testers. This is similar software to what Apple has seeded in the developer beta, so there won’t be any major changes or new features discovered in the public beta if they are also not uncovered in the developer beta.

Apple had a quiet update for the fourth- and fifth-generation Apple TV set-top boxes as far as software is concerned, with the company focusing instead on hardware and launching the Apple TV 4K in 2017. For Apple TV fans, though, this year’s Worldwide Developers Conference should hopefully include some worthwhile new features for the set-top boxes.
