ADB Mode is a backup screen mirroring solution provided by 3uAirPlayer for users whose Android driver-based mirroring fails. If the standard driver method encounters issues such as “device not recognized” or persistent connection failures, ADB mode can be used to establish a stable connection.
ADB mode works by using the USB Debugging feature in the phone’s Developer Options, enabling deeper communication between the phone and computer. Its main advantages are strong compatibility, the ability to resolve most driver compatibility problems, and low latency performance.
This guide is designed for situations where driver-based mirroring fails. It covers the operation steps for major Android brands and helps you quickly enable the backup ADB solution to complete screen mirroring.
Important:
ADB mode is not the primary mirroring method. It should only be used when the standard Android driver mirroring fails.
Before proceeding, make sure that the 3uAirPlayer client is installed on your computer.
I. Required Hardware
The following items are required:
1. Android Phone
Android 7.0 or later is required.
You can check the version in:
Settings → About Phone
Most modern Android devices meet this requirement.
2. USB Data Cable
Use the original USB cable or a certified cable that supports data transfer.
Cheap charging-only cables will not work.
Quick verification method:
After connecting the phone to the computer, if the phone shows options like “File Transfer” or “Charging”, it means the cable supports data transfer.
3. Windows Computer
Supported systems:
●Windows 7
●Windows 10
●Windows 11
For best stability, connect the USB cable to the rear USB ports of the computer rather than the front ports.
II. Three Common Issues to Avoid
1. Do Not Use a USB Hub
Connect the USB cable directly to the computer.
Using a USB hub may cause insufficient power supply or unstable data transmission.
2. Temporarily Disable Security Software
Security software such as 360 Antivirus or Huorong may block ADB driver installation.
Temporarily disable real-time protection before starting mirroring. You can re-enable it afterward.
3. Ensure the Phone Has Enough Battery
Make sure the phone battery level is above 30%.
Low battery may trigger power-saving mode and interrupt the mirroring connection.
III. Enable USB Debugging on the Phone
When normal Android driver mirroring fails, the key to using ADB mode is enabling Developer Options and USB Debugging.
Developer Options are hidden system settings, and the unlocking steps vary slightly between brands.
1.Unlock Developer Options (by Brand)
|
Brand |
Path |
Operation |
|
Xiaomi / Redmi |
Settings → My Device → All Specs |
Tap MIUI Version 7 times until “Developer mode enabled” appears |
|
Huawei / Honor |
Settings → About Phone |
Tap Build Number 7 times |
|
OPPO / OnePlus / Realme |
Settings → About Phone |
Tap Version Number 7 times |
|
vivo / iQOO |
Settings → System Management → About Phone |
Tap Software Version 7 times |
|
Samsung |
Settings → About Phone → Software Information |
Tap Build Number 7 times |
|
Meizu |
Settings → About Phone |
Tap Version Number 7 times |
|
Realme |
Settings → About Phone → Version Info |
Tap Version Number 7 times |
After completing the steps, the system will display a message indicating that Developer Mode has been enabled.
2. Enable USB Debugging
After unlocking Developer Options, follow these general steps.
Step 1: Locate Developer Options
Common locations include:
Xiaomi / Redmi: Settings → Additional Settings → Developer Options
Huawei / Honor: Settings → System & Updates → Developer Options
OPPO / OnePlus: Settings → Additional Settings → Developer Options
vivo / iQOO: Settings → System Management → Developer Options
Samsung: Settings → Developer Options
Step 2: Turn On USB Debugging
Inside Developer Options, locate:
USB Debugging
Enable the switch.
The switch will turn blue or green.
Step 3: Authorize the Computer
A security prompt will appear:
“Allow USB debugging?”
Make sure to check:
Always allow from this computer
Then tap OK.
This step is important. Without enabling this option, you may need to authorize the connection every time you mirror your screen.
3. Special Situations (Very Common)
Problem 1: No Authorization Popup Appears
Try the following steps in order:
Step 1: Basic check
Unplug the USB cable, wait 3 seconds, then reconnect it (preferably to the rear USB port).
Wait about 10 seconds to see if the authorization pop-up appears.
Step 2: Change USB Configuration
Go to:
Developer Options → Select USB Configuration
Choose:
●Media Transfer (MTP)
Then reconnect the cable.
If the pop-up still does not appear, try other options one by one:
●File Transfer
●RNDIS (USB Ethernet)
●MIDI
Reconnect the cable after each attempt.
Step 3: Restart the Phone
If the above steps fail, restart the phone.
Developer Options do not need to be disabled.
After restarting, reconnect the USB cable and try again.
Problem 2: Developer Options Cannot Be Found
Some phones hide Developer Options after reboot.
Solutions:
●Unlock Developer Options again using the steps above
●Search “Developer Options” in the Settings search bar
4. Prevent Debug Authorization from Expiring
By default, Android automatically revokes USB debugging authorization if the phone has not connected to a computer for 7 days.
To prevent this:
1. Open Developer Options
2. Find Disable ADB Authorization Timeout
3. Enable this option
Once enabled, the authorization will remain permanently valid.
IV. Start ADB Screen Mirroring (Computer Side)
After enabling USB debugging on the phone, you can start ADB mirroring from the computer.
Ensure the phone remains connected via USB.
Step 1: Enable ADB Mode
Open 3uAirPlayer on your computer.
Click the Settings icon in the top-right corner.
Find Mirroring Mode, then select:
ADB Mode
Click OK.
(Some versions place this option under Connection Settings.)
Step 2: Wait for Device Detection
The software will automatically scan connected devices.
Once detected, your phone model (for example, Xiaomi 14 or Huawei Mate 60) will appear in the Device List.
Step 3: Start Screen Mirroring
Click Start Mirroring.
Your phone screen will now appear on the computer.
ADB mirroring has been successfully enabled.
V. Useful Operations During Mirroring
Adjust Video Quality
Click Quality on the right side of the software to switch between:
●Standard
