We got the news that the well-known Pangu Team had allegedly demonstrated an iOS 10.3.1 jailbreak, giving us some hope that the long-awaited jailbreak for iOS 10.3.1 may be released soon.

However, with the imminent release of iOS 10.3.2 (Apple has released four beta versions so far), readers have been wondering if they should upgrade to iOS 10.3.1 to prepare for the Pangu iOS 10.3.1 jailbreak.

With the Possibility of iOS 10.3.1 Jailbreak Release; Should You Update to iOS 10.3.1?

It really depends on your situation. So let us go through the scenarios:

Already Jailbroken

If you've already jailbroken then it is recommended that you avoid upgrading to iOS 10.3.1 until the Pangu Jailbreak for iOS 10.3.1 is released, and it is confirmed to be working without any major issues. The last thing you want is to upgrade from a jailbroken iPhone only to realize that either the jailbreak for iOS 10.3.1 hasn't been released or it is unstable.

On iOS 10.2 or lower but Not Jailbroken

Since you can already jailbreak your iPhone on iOS 10.2 or lower with Yalu jailbreak, you are better off waiting for iOS 10.3.1 jailbreak to be released and it is confirmed to be working fine before upgrading to iOS 10.3.1.

On iOS 10.2.1

If you're on iOS 10.2.1, then we would recommend following one of the golden rules of jailbreaking and stay where you are to increase your chances of a jailbreak, something which Luca Ludesco, the well-known hacker, and developer of Yalu jailbreak has also recommended. Even if Apple releases iOS 10.3.2, you will get at least a week to upgrade to iOS 10.3.1 before it stops signing iOS 10.3.1 firmware. Hopefully, by then, Pangu Team would have released the jailbreak for iOS 10.3.1 or they would have confirmed their plans of releasing the jailbreak.

On iOS 10.3

If you're on iOS 10.3, then you can upgrade to iOS 10.3.1, we expect the Pangu jailbreak to support both iOS 10.3.1 and iOS 10.3 as there were no major changes between the two updates. iOS 10.3.1 included bug fixes and security improvements, but if iOS 10.3.1 can be jailbroken, we expect iOS 10.3 without the security fixes to be jailbroken as well.

What if Apple Releases iOS 10.3.2

This is a tricky one, as it is quite possible that Apple has patched the exploits used by the Pangu Team to jailbreak iOS 10.3.1 in iOS 10.3.2. However, it may still be prudent to wait for Pangu Team to confirm whether their jailbreak works with iOS 10.3.2 before deciding to upgrade as you will have at least a week’s window before Apple stops signing iOS 10.3.1.

While it is no guarantee that Pangu Team will release a jailbreak, we're excited as it certainly gives us hope that we will finally have the freedom to customize our iPhones, iPad or iPod touches the way we want.
