Apple Collaborates with Chicago Artists for New Michigan Avenue Store

Apple’s new flagship store on Chicago’s Magnificent Mile is set to open next month. To celebrate the beautiful new shop, Apple revealed today that it has partnered with local artists to celebrate the city’s creative roots.

The online portal for the Michigan Avenue store was updated this afternoon with new images of the store. Apple says the new retail location will be “a space for the next generation of creative pioneers to come together, connect, and share their talent.”

Chicago hip-hop artist Saba partnered with Apple to create a new song called “Where Ideas Sing,” as a way to highlight the city’s creativity and energy. Public artist Matthew Hoffman was then brought in to bring the lyrics to life with a huge mural on the side of the store.

Apple’s new Chicago store is located on one of the busiest shopping streets in the world. Most of the store is underground. The Apple plaza-level entrance is absolutely fabulous though and reportedly cost Apple more than $60 million.

Foster+Partners designed the new store which also looks like a MacBook from above. It’s supposed to be an homage of Chicago architect Frank Lloyd Wright’s Prairie Style home, with all glass walls and a metal roof.
