Apple has today announced that it will now support app bundles for Mac apps and free apps with a subscription. Announced via its Developer Portal, Apple says developers will be able to “create app bundles for Mac apps or free apps that offer an auto-renewable subscription”.

App bundles make it easy for customers to buy up to 10 of your apps in a single purchase. And now, you can create app bundles for Mac apps or free apps that offer an auto-renewable subscription to access all apps in the bundle. Learn how to set up app bundles and effectively market them on your App Store product page.

With support for app bundles on macOS, developers can offer a bundle of up to 10 applications, allowing users to purchase them all at once, at a discounted rate.

App bundles have been around for quite some time now, however, they’ve been restricted to just iOS apps that are paid, with no support for on-going subscriptions. This is also the first time that app bundles have made it to the Mac. Though, this makes sense as Apple just did a major revamp on the Mac App Store alongside the release of macOS Mojave.

While adding support for all app types is a great thing, some developers argue that the subscription model is starting to take over the App Store and that getting apps is becoming slightly expensive.
