The company has finally revealed which devices are having their performance cut to improve battery health, and it's good news for some Apple fans.

In newly released support documents, Apple confirms that only iPhones are affected by its battery-boosting feature.

That means your old iPad, MacBook or Apple Watch won't be impacted by any of the processor-throttling software updates currently targeting old iPhone models.

Apple says: "This power management feature is specific to iPhone and does not apply to any other Apple products."

The only devices actually affected are: iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone 6S, iPhone 6S Plus, iPhone SE, iPhone 7, and iPhone 7 Plus.

Apple has faced heavy criticism over its decision to throttle the speed of older handsets.

Late last year, researchers exposed Apple over secret iOS code that would lower performance to stop iPhone handsets from shutting down.

Apple's reasoning was that by hampering performance, it would improve the long-term health of batteries inside its smartphones.

Like most smartphones, the iPhone runs on a lithium ion battery, which degrades over time. For instance, 500 charge cycles will leave your handset with 80% of the charge potential a brand new model.
