Apple Seeds Fourth Developer Beta of MacOS Monterey 12.3

Apple has provided developers with the fourth build of its macOS Monterey 12.3 beta, in what could be one of the last tests before a public release.

The newest builds can be downloaded via the Apple Developer Center for those enrolled in the test program, or via an over-the-air update on devices running the beta software. Public betas typically arrive within a few days of the developer versions, via the Apple Beta Software Program website.

The fourth build arrives not long after the third, which reached developers on February 15. The second arrived on February 8, and the first was on January 27.

Universal Control Universal Control appears to be the main major addition for this version, one that works with iPadOS 15.4 to extend the user's workspace to the tablet. A single keyboard, mouse, or trackpad connected to a Mac can be shared with multiple nearby Macs or iPads, similar to an automatic software KVM.

AppleInsider, and Apple itself, strongly recommend users don't install the betas on to "mission-critical" or primary devices, as there is the remote possibility of data loss or other issues. Instead, testers should install betas onto secondary or non-essential devices, and to make sure there are sufficient backups of important data before updating.
